In Paul’s “final instructions” to the Thessalonians, he gives a list that reads like an “everything you need to know guide” to live the Christian life. He puts heavy emphasis on how we treat one another and relate to everyone. It seems no coincidence that “Give thanks in all circumstances” is closely connected to all these instructions. When God opens your heart with the gift of salvation, He desires for you to out-pour encouragement, help, patience and even admonishment in love. Reach out to others for Christ by forming genuine caring relationships.
I then shall live as one who’s learned compassion;
I’ve been so loved that I’ll risk loving too.
I know how fear builds walls instead of bridges;
I’ll dare to see another’s point of view.
And when relationship demand commitment,
Then I’ll be there to care and follow through.
PRAYER: Gracious Father, You have been so good to me. Open my heart to others and allow me to share your compassion. Amen.
