Last year around this time, my longtime pastor preached his last sermon at my church and moved on to another position. This pastor had married my husband and I, done our premarital counseling, walked with us through many life changes. One of my favorite memories of my pastor was from the adoption celebration party that we had for our two adopted boys, ages 5 and 6. He said a prayer. Have you ever been in the presence of someone praying out loud for a group, but they were only praying straight to the heart of their God that they knew could answer every prayer? It was that kind of prayer. A beautiful prayer straight to God for blessing and good for our new sons. I wish I could say every bend of the road has been good, because it has not. Currently our oldest son isn’t living in our home and it has been the saddest chapter of my life I can ever imagine. There are days when I struggle to find hope. But in the end, I know God is good and I know he is working all things out for good. I believe he is still at work, answering my pastor’s prayer, and my prayers, for good and for blessing. I am reminded of the story of Joseph. He was sold by his brothers into slavery. He was separated from his dad and brothers for many years and had many trials along the way. God always had a plan for Joseph’s life. An amazing plan to save many people (including his brothers and father) from famine. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20
PRAYER: Lord, I am so thankful that I can come to you at any time with my thoughts and needs. You care about the tiniest details of my life, you know the number of hairs on my head. You love me with an everlasting love. I praise you! Amen.
