There is liberty in knowing the Word of God and walking freely in its truths. Psalm 1 describes the pure happiness that comes from this intentional way of living: "But hid delight in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither."
Living with a clear conscience and a light heart has nothing to do with our own rules or judgments or small confined perspectives. Rather, the key to personal liberty is delighting in God's Word. In Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis writes, "To become holy is rather like joining a secret society. To put it at the very lowest, it must be great fun."
What a wonderful perspective! God says, "Focus on me! Love me, delight in my ways, and be free."
