It took over two hours for the ship to sink after it hit the giant iceberg. The captain cried, "Women and children first." But one survivor claimed that John Harper cried, "Women, children, and the unsaved first!"
When the ship disappeared into the inky water John found a piece of wood and held on as long as he could. Hypothermia began to set in, and his breathing became labored. He saw a man float past him and, fighting for Then once more he passed John, and with his last breath John Harper proclaimed, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." Then the minister's hands slipped off the wood and he was gone, gone into the presence of Christ amidst the rejoicing of angels.
The man John spoke to survived and some time later he stood in a pulpit in Canada and announced, "I am John Harper's last convert."
There is nothing more important than a personal relationship with Christ. It is what everyone is looking for whether he knows it or not. We belong to God our Father. And when one of His children comes home, there is joy!
