One morning during a particularly trying time in our lives, I was sitting down after everyone had left for the day with my Bible and cup of coffee. As I sat there I was feeling very alone; that no one really cared about the difficulties we were facing. I remember praying, “Lord, please let me know that someone cares; if only they would bring me some chocolate chip cookies I would know you were still there.” After that prayer I was feeling somewhat foolish because my request seemed so selfish. I went about my tasks, and shortly thereafter the phone rang. The call was from someone I knew and thought a great deal of but who was not someone with whom I had a lot of contact. She said that she had been thinking about my family and me and wanted to drop off a casserole for our evening meal. I remembered my prayer and thought, “Lord, you do still care!” Later, as she stopped in we had a chance to visit for a few minutes and pray. After she left I felt warm and loved. As I opened the box and removed the casserole, I noticed that there was something underneath it—a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies! With tears of joy running down my face, I thanked God for His wonderful love and concern for my life even down to chocolate chip cookies.
PRAYER: Thank you Father for the many ways you show your love and care for us.
