One of the most interesting things about Thanksgiving is how two very different groups of people came together to experience success, and then celebrated that success together to create the holiday we now call Thanksgiving.
Some quick research on the history of Thanksgiving tells us that the Pilgrims, upon arriving to the United States, were aided by the Wampanoag people. The Pilgrims likely would not have survived were it not for the help of the Wampanoag tribe. In a time (nearly 500 years ago) where information about other groups of people was not readily available, two very different cultures that had every reason to fear each other instead put their differences aside and used their individual gifts to accomplish a common goal.
God has created each of us uniquely in his image, and he has given us all different skill-sets and gifts. God calls us to encourage one another to do good things and to work together to further His kingdom. The next time you’re working on a project, consider inviting someone who has a background and skill-set different than yours to join you on that journey.
PRAYER: Help us to be encouragers on this journey of life. We thank you that you have given us each different gifts to use for you. Amen.
