When clients come to us with financial difficulties, we walk alongside them to map a way to a better future. We help them identify and build on their strengths, guide them through overcoming obstacles, teach them skills they lack and mentor them as they set and strive for new goals. It can be very rewarding to watch our clients stabilize, blossom and thrive!
We are pleased to announce that our latest grant award will put CFE on the receiving end of such a relationship! The Siouxland Community Foundation “Capacity Building Initiative”, in partnership with Tyson Foods and The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University, will do for CFE what we do for our clients--equip us for a brighter, more stable and flourishing future.
On November 21, 2017, Tyson Foods announced a $100,000 grant to the Siouxland Community Foundation. The donation will go toward a capacity program to enhance training and bolster the ability of organizations to operate effectively.
Siouxland Community Foundation has in turn partnered with The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University’s School of Business to fulfill an eight-month capacity building program. Center for Financial Education is one of ten participating nonprofits chosen to receive 50 hours of instruction, coaching and problem-based consulting services over eight months in 2018.
We are thrilled! Without the grant from Tyson to fund the project, participating in this type of in-depth program would be completely out of reach for us financially. We’re looking forward to the various aspects of the program which are all designed to make CFE more effective as a nonprofit. We’ll take part in a Management Assessment Plan (MAP), be given coaching specific to our needs, have training for board effectiveness, collaborate with a peer learning circle and a be supported through a webinar series based on specific results found for all the non-profits engaged in the program.
LaSalle University’s Nonprofit Center has more than 35 years of experience in working with thousands of diverse organizations to build stronger nonprofit communities with highly proficient staff and knowledgeable leadership. The have built a national reputation for their best practices approach to nonprofit management and governance.
It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to work with this prestigious group and learn from their vast expertise. We intend to come away from this experience with the ability to work more effectively as a nonprofit.
